Parts for the matrix mixers are here. Just waiting on the banana jacks from Mouser. In the meantime, I’m going to start working down the waiting list. If you’ve already contacted me, you’re on the list and I’ll be contacting you shortly.Don’t hesitate to email me if you want a matrix mixer from the first batch. There might be a couple spots left.

Here’s how things are shaping up thus far. The brains are made from clocks and switches. These feed a primitive digital to analog converter which produces a control voltage (also usable as an audio signal itself). The control voltage feeds a pair of PLL-based voltage controlled oscillators that share a mutual portamento control. Up top we have what will be another pseudo-random sub-circuit currently blinking LEDs which will soon produce its own control voltages. This is really just the beginning of a larger semi-modular device (and perhaps some smaller stand alone devices if there’s interest) that I’m working on. I’m planning on taking a Noah’s Arc approach with most of the sub-circuits and will be adding some control voltage concepts I’ve never seen implemented in the audio portion of a synthesizer before.

My new synthesizer (also featured below in the “Buildin’ Brains” post) is trying to make dubstep. Absolutely adorable. Proof that all it takes to make this kind of music is a four bit brain.

Buildin’ Brains.

This is an experimental CV generator/chaotic sequencer using digital logic and a primitive digital to analog converter controlling a VCO. It also sounds great just pushing air with a speaker sans VCO. Very inspiring and only the beginning of what is possible with these types of circuits. More on this later…

Prototype for a device called DIN that I was going to mass produce, but haven’t gotten around to yet. Three tone generators that are played with high quality push buttons. Also has a master volume, master transpose knob and switches for two different frequency ranges. Great for Silver Apples-esque riffing, thick sub-bass drones and microtonal skronk.  $150 + shipping.
